Update on Friday virtual learning for students in grades 7-12:
All students need to check in with their first-hour teacher on Friday before 9:00 am. This is how we are tracking attendance on Fridays.
On Thursday, all students are given instructions on what they need to do in their respective classes. They are also told when that assignment needs to be done. This varies from teacher to teacher, so students should be writing down what they need to do for their classes on Fridays in their planners.
As we receive feedback and continue to learn what works well and what needs to be adjusted, we may make some changes to our virtual day. If that happens, we will keep you updated.
Finally, our teachers have office hours set up on Fridays. Students need to set up a time with their teacher to come in on Fridays to get help. Please don't plan on just stopping by because teachers may have other appointments. The best way to avoid that is to set up a time to meet with your teacher before Friday. Here are the hours:
Ms. Gibson: 8:30-10:30
Mr. Pierson: 8:30-11:45
Mr. Geiger: 8:00-9:30
Ms. Wagner: 9:30-10:30
Mrs. Kessel: 9:00-10:00
Resource Room: 9:00-10:30
Mrs. Larson: 9:00-10:00
Mr. McDowell: 8:30-10:00
Mr. Klein: 10:00-11:00
Mr. Hill: 9:00-10:30
Mr. Wagner: 8:30-12:00
Mrs. Klein: 9:00-11:00
Dear 7-12 Families ...
Based on student feedback, we have made three changes two our virtual Fridays:
Assignments will be posted in Teams by Thursdays at 3:15 pm. Assignments are due on Fridays at midnight. If there is not an assignment, the teacher will announce that in Teams.
Many of you know that eligibility runs on Wednesday mornings. What that means is that any student who is failing a class on Wednesday morning is ineligible to participate in any extracurricular activities through the following Wednesday. Should your student find themselves ineligible, we expect them to make arrangements with the teacher whose class they are failing to come in on Friday for one-on-one help. We hope that this will provide these students with the extra support they need to find success in the classroom and on the field.
Beyond this, if your student is struggling in class and wants to come in for help on Fridays, they are certainly welcome to. They need to make arrangements with their teachers to come in for that support.
Reggie Jackson will be here next Wednesday, September 23rd for your orders and payments.
